Report – Barfly and HMV + pics
Hi buds. I thought I'd write up a little report and share some pics and a video from our London trip. (Feel free to skip to the photos k)
First, the Barfly album launch in tiny room in Camden. After meeting up with our co-conspirator Mark we went in to catch Clock Opera supporting, all of us unfamiliar with their music (except that one remix that everyone in the world must have downloaded twice by now) but all of us impressed by the end. I took three pictures but they are all terrible. Sorry Clock Opera.
You might have seen by now that EE came on in some totally stylin' boiler suits of the most dazzling white, that glowed in the backlights as if I'd gone to heaven and just found a bunch of decorators playing instruments. It was a lot of fun and a brilliant audience, they smashed it. An amazing gig for a band that just get better every time we see them. I'm only sorry we couldn't stay for the DJ set, having to run off to catch the tube.
Setlist:
QWERTY Finger
Suffragette Suffragette
Schoolin'
Leave the Engine Room
Tin (The Manhole)
Final Form
MY KZ, UR BF
Photoshop Handsome

+ NASA Is on Your Side
A little video of Photoshop Handsome. Maybe you’ll see yourself if you were there. You can probably see why I don’t take many videos. Urge to dance too great.
The next day Gareth and I wandered down to Oxford Street HMV. Having never been to an in-store before I was imagining they'd maybe cleared a space on another floor, but no, there were the band soundchecking at the back of a shop in the middle of the day, and we were lined up down the aisles browsing for the worst CD covers we could find and watching Edward Scissorhands on the giant screen muted. It was so bright Vincent Price looked like a cyborg.
EE played a five song set with aplomb, even with many starkly-lit faces staring up at them from a shop floor. Bought Man Alive.. again. Got it signed afterwards. Can't remember what I said but I'm sure I was embarrassingly awkward. Lovely.
